Lorraine Doonan, RN, BSN, MS, CPHQ, LNCC, CSA
Education Co-Chair

2017 President of LMD Legal Nurse Consultants LLC

Lorraine’s greater than twenty years experience as a Registered Nurse allows her to provide expert consultation to plaintiff and defense law firms, She has contributed to the article, “Depression Screening and Interventions for Older Home Care Patients: Program Design and Training Outcomes for a Train-the-Trainer Model” as well as to “Pilot Study of a Statewide Initiative to Enhance Depression Care Among Older Home Care Patients”. Lorraine has served as Past President and Education Chairperson for the CT Association of Legal Nurse Consultants. She is a member of the American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants.

Lorraine has attained the designation of Certified Senior Advisor and Certified Professional Healthcare Quality, endorsed by the National Association for Healthcare Quality. She is also a Legal Nurse Consultant Certified, the only certification recognized by the American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants. Lorraine is a graduate of Rutgers University School of Nursing and received her Master’s Degree in Management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute’s Lally School of Management.

Karen Troller  RN, BSN, CEN

Karen Troller, RN, BSN CEN has been clinically active Emergency Room Nurse for over ten years. She is experienced in Medical Surgical, Orthopedics, Neurologic, Cardiac Care, Skilled and Rehabilitation Nursing. Karen has served on the Performance Improvement Stroke Committee, Quality Improvement Pain Management Committee and Danbury Hospital Professional Practice Nursing Council. She has recently completed 25 years of service at Danbury Hospital. Karen is an active member of the Connecticut American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants since 2011. Serving as Secretary and Treasurer for the Connecticut Chapter AALNC 2014 to 2016. 

Janet Murphy, RN, MSN, CPNP, APRN, SANE-P
Secretary/Membership Chair

Janet is a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and has extensive clinical experience in general pediatrics and child sexual abuse. She received a BA in Chemistry from Regis College in 1980 and then received her RN and MSN from Yale University School of Nursing in 1988, graduating from the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Program. Over the past 28 years she has worked as an RN on Postpartum at Yale-New Haven Hospital, and since 1988, she had worked as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner at a Pediatric outpatient clinic at Yale-New Haven Hospital and then at a private Pediatric practice in Branford, CT. Janet worked for 20 years as a Pediatric Primary Care Provider. Janet currently works in the Child Abuse Department at Yale-New Haven Hospital, seeing children for concerns of sexual abuse. She has worked in this specialty clinic since 1988.

Tim Paine, PT

Tim graduated with Honors from the University of Connecticut, and has worked as a Physical Therapist in settings across the healthcare continuum.  His professional life has included work in various environments including The Johns Hopkins Hospital, acute brain injury rehabilitation, pediatric neurologic home care, adult home health, Adult Day Health and skilled nursing home care. Additionally, Tim owned and operated an outpatient physical therapy clinic with specializations in the areas of orthopedics, neurology, chronic and acute wound care, as well as pre-hab and rehab for those with pulmonary and orthopedic conditions. He provided medical consultation services to skilled nursing facilities, home health agencies and legal consultation services to attorneys.

Tim has been an active member of the Association for Advancement in Wound Care since 1998, the largest multidisciplinary wound care association in the country and has held national certification as a Wound Care Specialist. He has been an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association. As part of these organizations, he has served on the board of directors, chaired numerous committees and task forces, published in national journals, lectured locally, regionally and nationally, and has been recognized not only for his passion for collaboration, but also using his broad knowledge and experience to identify and solve problems.
